The complete package.

It's warm. It's comfortable. It's an easy-to-carry package. It's got dual anti-snag zippers, a neck baffle, draft tubes, and a handy pocket to stash your cell phone in. There was really nothing to fault about the Sea to Summit Trek Tk3, and that's why it's our number one pick.

Pros: Everything, especially the soft, warm feel of its materials.

Cons: If we’re being really picky - and we are - there could have been a touch more room around the feet. Just a touch.

Verdict: A truly excellent sleeping bag.

First Impressions

From the tapered rectangular shape to the 650+Loft Ultra-Dry Down, we knew this was going to worth the pretty reasonable cost. It has a -6°C comfort rating and 20D soft touch light and breathable lining, which works well for its 1.190 kg weight. It also comes with a compact and lightweight Ultra-Sil compression bag, which helps it pack down into a nicely small package.

Sleeping Experience

We slept like a log in this excellent sleeping bag. We couldn’t ask for more from this lightweight, ultra-comfortable bag. The two-way side zips and a separate foot zip were cleverly designed - if you’re glamping, you could still take this bag opened out to use as a quilt. We found no issues with condensation or moisture, and it was a wet night when we tested.

Features Analysis

There’s a large internal pocket for valuables, well placed for easy access and doesn't feel bulky or reduce the sleeping space. We especially loved the vertical chest baffles, a unique feature, which really blocked off the cold and prevented down migration. Overall design is fantastic, and we can’t ignore the 3D hood with the neck collar draft tubes and draw cord that adjusts quite well to fit perfectly. These are the most visible features that we found just upon unpacking, and were already convinced!

Construction and Durability

Sea to Summit continues to tread a great line between quality construction and a really reasonable price. The Trek Tk3 continues this tradition. Zippers are well attached and flow easily, the outer shell of the bag is high quality and moisture-resistant, and the features of the bag extensive and well-thought out. In our opinion, this is a very well-constructed bag that will go the distance.

Final Verdict

The Sea to Summit Trek Tk3 has everything you need in a sleeping bag. Great for alpine trips, hikes, car camping and sleepovers - its versatility will serve you well. It’s as portable as it can get while keeping the insulation capacity at a max for full comfort. Finally, you get all this at a reasonable price. Certainly the best on the list.
