Itiwit X100 1-2 Person Kayak Review

Rating

Performance: 7

Size/Weight: 7

Durability: 5

Setup: 8

Value: 7

OVERALL: 6.8

Stable and portable, but cramped and lacks good tracking performance.

The Itiwit X100 1-2 Person Kayak is a well-built and affordable option from Decathlon, offering good durability and easy inflation in a lightweight, packable design. With its compact size, it feels cramped for two adults, though, making it less comfortable for extended paddling trips. For those planning to paddle tandem frequently, the larger 2–3-person version might be a better fit.

The Itiwit X100 1-2 person inflatable kayak is part of Decathlon's upgraded lineup, building on the success of their previous Touring series. The first thing that strikes us is its compact design, neatly packed into a backpack weighing just under 16kg.

For an inflatable kayak, it feels well-constructed, featuring a high-pressure drop-stitch floor and sturdy PVC side pontoons. The materials feel durable, although the side pontoons seem less robust compared to full drop-stitch kayaks.

The kayak is promoted for short, occasional trips of 2–3 hours, and at first glance, it seems like an excellent choice for both solo and tandem paddling, provided that comfort and stability are prioritised over speed.

Setting up the Itiwit X100 is a breeze. The process is straightforward, with clear, printed instructions on the inside of the carry backpack.

The kayak inflates through three valves conveniently placed at the stern, making the setup intuitive even for beginners. Inflation is quick and easy, though you’ll need to purchase a pump separately since it's not included in the package.

The drop-stitch floor is inflated first, followed by the two side chambers. The high-pressure floor is a standout feature, providing a firm and stable base that enhances overall rigidity. Once inflated, the kayak feels stable and well-balanced.

Packing it down is equally simple, although fitting everything back into the bag might require a bit of practice to get it right. The total package is light and portable, making it easy to carry around — though bear in mind, you'll need to carry paddles and a pump separately.

When it comes to paddling, the Itiwit X100 offers a mixed experience.

One of the kayak's strong suits is its stability, largely due to its wide design, tubular side pontoons and flat hull. It feels very steady when getting in and out and handles calm waters like lakes and slow-moving rivers well. In choppy waters or with side winds, though, the kayak can feel a bit wobbly, which might be unnerving for beginners.

Comfort is a bit of a hit or miss. The drop-stitch floor provides a firm and dry base, which is great, but the inflatable seats are not the most comfortable for longer paddles. The lack of footrests is also noticeable, as bracing your feet helps with stability and paddling efficiency.

The kayak’s performance is adequate for leisurely trips but falls short when it comes to speed and tracking. Despite having three skegs (small fins on the bottom), the kayak doesn't track particularly well in a straight line. The skegs are smaller compared to other models, which affects directional stability. You can buy longer skegs designed for Itiwit paddleboards to improve this, but it’s an extra cost.

The cockpit is cramped for two adults, especially if both paddlers are tall or if you have gear. Adjusting the rear seat as far back as possible helps, but for taller pairs or those planning to carry a lot of equipment, the larger 410cm version of the kayak might be a better option. The rear deck offers some storage space and there is a luggage net on top of the splash deck for securing items, but it's not expansive.
